THE BLUFFS HO TRAM STRIP
🇻🇳 Ba Ria, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, VN
Designed by Greg Norman
The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip sits along the southeastern coast of Vietnam, approximately 120 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. Designed by Greg Norman and opened in 2014, the course occupies a dramatic stretch of coastal terrain where natural sand dunes meet the South China Sea. The routing takes full advantage of the property's elevation changes and oceanfront exposure, with several holes playing directly along clifftop bluffs that give the course its name.
Norman's design emphasizes the raw, windswept character of the site, incorporating native grasses and minimal tree plantings to preserve sightlines and expose players to coastal breezes. The layout features significant elevation changes uncommon in Southeast Asian golf, with fairways that tumble through dune valleys and greens perched on natural plateaus. Multiple holes offer views of the ocean, and the closing stretch includes several that play directly alongside the water, where wind direction and intensity become primary strategic considerations.
The course is part of the Ho Tram Strip development, a resort and gaming complex along Vietnam's southern coast. The Bluffs represents one of the few true links-style designs in Southeast Asia, built on sandy, free-draining soil that allows for firm playing conditions. The property's relative isolation and coastal setting distinguish it from the parkland courses more typical of the region, and the design has drawn attention for bringing a rugged, natural aesthetic to Vietnamese golf.
