TEMPLE TERRACE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Temple Terrace, FL, USA
Designed by Tom Bendelow

Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club occupies a distinctive place in Florida golf history as one of the state's earliest country club developments. Tom Bendelow designed the course in the 1920s during the Florida land boom, when Temple Terrace was conceived as a planned Mediterranean Revival community northeast of Tampa. Bendelow, a prolific architect who laid out hundreds of courses across America in the early twentieth century, routed the course through rolling terrain unusual for Florida—the property features natural elevation changes and mature hardwood trees that give it a character distinct from the state's flatter coastal layouts.
The course winds through the established residential community, with tree-lined fairways and small, often elevated greens typical of Bendelow's design approach. The routing takes advantage of the property's topography, incorporating gentle slopes and doglegs that require thoughtful positioning. Several holes play along or across natural drainage corridors that add strategic interest to club selection and approach angles.
Temple Terrace has served as the golf centerpiece of its namesake community for nearly a century, maintaining its role as a traditional member club with deep local roots. The layout has seen modifications over the decades to accommodate modern play and maintenance practices, though it retains the fundamental character of a 1920s parkland design. The club functions as a family-oriented facility where multiple generations of Tampa-area families have learned and played the game.
