TARANDOWAH GOLFERS CLUB
🇨🇦 Avon, Ontario, CA
Designed by Martin Hawtree

Tarandowah, sculpted from the glacial remains of Southwestern Ontario, feels transported from the British Isles. This links-style course, evocative of classic Scottish design, exposes golfers to the whims of the wind, rewarding strategic play over brute strength. Wide fairways give way to cunningly placed bunkers and subtly contoured greens, presenting a constant test of skill and imagination.
Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, Tarandowah’s layout embraces the natural undulations of the land. The course’s expansive fescue rough punishes errant shots, while the firm, fast fairways encourage running approaches. This distinctive terrain, coupled with the ever-present wind, presents a unique and compelling challenge to golfers of all abilities.
While not a stage for major championships, Tarandowah has quietly cultivated a devoted following among those who appreciate pure, unadulterated golf. It is a place where the spirit of the game, rather than grandstanding celebrity, remains paramount. It’s said that a round at Tarandowah is best followed by a pint at the clubhouse, reliving the shots made – and those sorely missed – amidst the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts.
