TALAMORE GOLF RESORT
🇺🇸 Southern Pines, NC, USA
Designed by Greg Muirhead, Rees Jones, Shape Masters
Talamore, carved into the rolling Sandhills of Southern Pines, NC, is a second shot golf course where par is always a good score. Rees Jones sculpted this modern masterpiece, which opened in 1991, playing firm and fast with generous fairways and undulating greens complexes. Strategic bunkering protects the landing areas and greens, demanding creative shot-making and precise iron play.
Talamore has garnered a regional following for its challenging layout and pristine conditions. The course is routed through a landscape of towering pines and native grasses, offering a visually stunning experience. Many approach shots demand players to take a calculated risk and the ability to flight their ball with distance control, rather than raw power.
Beyond the course, Talamore is known for its unique, woolly members: a flock of Scottish Blackface sheep that roam the grounds. These charming, bleating landscapers add to the course’s distinctive character and provide a quirky photo opportunity. Post round, most golfers at Talamore will find themselves in the club house enjoying a Talamore Slammer, the clubs signature cocktail.
