Catawba Springs Golf Club's Sulphur Springs/Dogwood combination represents eighteen holes drawn from the club's twenty-seven hole layout designed by Willard Byrd. Located in Hickory, North Carolina, the course sits in the foothills region of the state, where the Piedmont begins its transition toward the Appalachian Mountains. Byrd, a prolific North Carolina architect active from the 1950s through the 1980s, designed numerous courses throughout the Carolinas and was known for routing golf holes that work naturally with rolling terrain.
