STONEWALL GOLF CLUB
πΊπΈ Gainesville, VA, USA
Designed by Tom Jackson
Stonewall, carved from the rolling Virginia Piedmont, is a testament to the enduring appeal of classic parkland golf. The routing unfolds across a landscape punctuated by mature hardwoods and serene lakes, demanding strategic play over sheer power. The course generally plays fair but errant shots will find thick bermuda rough or water hazards.
Tom Jackson's original design presents a diverse test, with subtly contoured greens and strategically placed bunkers that reward thoughtful approaches. While Stonewall hasn't hosted major championships, it remains a respected venue for regional amateur events and a challenging proving ground for golfers of all skill levels.
More than just a golf course, Stonewall, located on the outskirt of Gainesville, is a favorite for Northern Virginians for both the course and club and a popular reprieve from the commotion of the DC metro area. Stonewall has a loyal membership.
Reviews
It is genuinely insane how this course can charge $150 for an am tee time. Tees are hairy and not cut, greens have ball marks up the wazoo and are below average speed.
Great setting. Some good holes, some quirky. Really like the par 5 with hazards 40 yards apart right off the fairway lol. Itβs not my favorite but I like being there.
