STONE RIDGE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Stillwater, MN, USA
Designed by Bobby Weed

Stone Ridge Golf Club sits in Stillwater, Minnesota, a historic river town along the St. Croix River northeast of the Twin Cities. Designed by Bobby Weed and opened in the late 1990s, the course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the region's glacially sculpted landscape. Weed, a Florida-based architect who worked extensively with Pete Dye before establishing his own practice, brought his experience with strategic design and natural landform routing to this Minnesota project.
The layout moves through varied topography that includes elevation changes, wooded corridors, and open meadow areas. The routing takes advantage of the property's natural contours, with holes that play across ridges and through valleys. Water features appear on several holes, and the design incorporates native grasses and naturalized areas that frame the playing corridors. The course requires thoughtful club selection and course management, as the terrain creates uneven lies and demands accuracy off the tee.
Stone Ridge serves as a daily-fee facility that has become part of the northern Twin Cities golf market. The course attracts both local players and visitors to the Stillwater area, which is known for its scenic river valley setting and historic downtown. The layout provides a test for players of varying abilities through multiple tee options, and the conditioning standards reflect the competitive daily-fee market in the region.
Reviews
My current home course. Maybe the best public in the metro. It has its flaws. Bunkering is inconsistent and the service sucks, but the course layout is perfect. Really tough second shot course and you get brutalized for not hitting a green. A great place to be a semi-private member at 😆
Undeniably a fantastic links property near Minneapolis. Great for those who like music and 5-hour rounds on the course.
Great place but price is a little steep
Plays extremely fast, can get the greens rolling at a 13 any day they want to. Conditions are always great and a really good variety of holes (16 sucks but whatever). Best public in the metro and if you can catch it at less than $100, it’s a good to great value. Price hikes in recent years have caused that number to be significantly higher than it should be.
