FAIRMONT BANFF SPRINGS
🇨🇦 Banff, Alberta, CA
Designed by Stanley Thompson.

Stanley Thompson's masterpiece at Fairmont Banff Springs is a testament to blending golf with the grandeur of the Canadian Rockies, a place where the echoes of Hogan's legendary ball-striking still reverberate through the thin mountain air.
Born of the Golden Age, the course navigates a dramatic parkland setting, carved meticulously into the Bow River Valley. Thompson masterfully uses the natural contours to create strategic challenges, with doglegs that reward bold play and undulating greens that test even the most seasoned putting stroke. The thick pines that line many fairways offer not only stunning visuals but also demand accuracy off the tee, favoring players who can shape their shots with precision.
While it has not hosted a major championship, the course's iconic design and breathtaking scenery have consistently drawn discerning golfers from around the globe. Its appeal lies not in tournament glory, but in its pure, unadulterated golfing experience.
Banff Springs is known for its hearty cuisine after a round, particularly their 'Stanley burger' - a nod to the course's architect. It’s a tradition enjoyed while recounting the day's triumphs and tribulations against the backdrop of the awe-inspiring mountain vista.
Reviews
Banff Springs is basically a perfect mountain golf course. Designed by Stanley Thompson, the course has some of the best scenery you will ever find on a non-ocean golf course. The holes flow perfectly, with a good mix of sortable and hard holes. The routing is perfect. The only downside is how crowded it is, our round took 5 hours and 15 minutes.
Some of the best Mountain View’s you can find.
One of if not the greatest experiences I’ve had in a golf course. Immaculate views, fun and intriguing course layout and bunkering. Still a resort course so not super difficult, couldn’t recommend it more. Worth the $$$
Insanely gorgeous place. The mountains and rivers flanking every hole is unlike anything I’ve ever played. Took 5.5 hours to play but didn’t even care with how good the views were.
