TPC SCOTTSDALE
🇺🇸 Scottsdale, AZ, USA
Designed by Jay Morrish, Tom Weiskopf
The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale is defined by its raucous, stadium-like 16th hole, a spectacle unmatched in professional golf. Carved into the Sonoran Desert landscape of North Scottsdale, the course presents a target-style experience, favoring strategic play over raw power and creating risk-reward opportunities. The fairways, generously wide in places and tight in others, reward accuracy as much as distance, while undulating greens demand a deft touch.
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, the Stadium Course was conceived specifically to host the Phoenix Open (now the WM Phoenix Open), solidifying its place as one of the most-attended events on the PGA TOUR. Ben Crenshaw contributed a renovation that was unveiled in 2014. Each year, the world's best golfers navigate its demanding layout, which includes the famed par-3 16th, where the atmosphere is more akin to a sporting arena than a golf course.
Beyond the tournament fervor, TPC Scottsdale offers a compelling desert golf experience. While the 16th hole earns the spotlight, the other 17 holes present strategic challenges that appeal to golfers of all skill levels. TPC Scottsdale is renowned for its exceptional facilities and commitment to providing an experience that extends beyond the course, making it a popular destination for golf enthusiasts visiting the area.
Reviews
Primo conditions plus some fun holes. Fun to watch pros and fun to play.
extremely underwhelming experience. course conditions were poor, and we payed a pretty penny to play.
Played it 2 months before the Waste Management. It’s one of the best closing stretch of holes on the PGA Tour.. It’s a great test of all parts of your game.. High price and not an elite AZ course but certainly gets a bit overhated
Honestly dont know why this is on the pga tour as it is pretty easy. Obviously the lore of the stadium hole which makes it but when you play it most of the time doesnt even have the stantions up. Ok at best.
Replicating the shots on TV is fun here. The 16th with the stands up, or trying to drive it over the church pews on 18. Otherwise, it’s a tourist trap that’s in alright shape and is pretty unremarkable. Fun to see the stands up
They say it’s overrated, but I had a blast. Played here for my brothers bachelor weekend. Jun 22, 2023.
Played right after overseed in was first tee time of the day. Super wet and lush. Greens were fuzzy and slower than you’d think. Probably not worth the cost but they were mid buildout for the WM so it was cool to see it in this condition. Fantastic day of golf.
Cart staff are rude, course is meh, but fun round to say played it once.
TPC Scottsdale is a 7 without the build out.
Played it week after the WM. Was a fun round despite not playing great. Well maintained. Generally uninspiring layout. Typical of TPC properties.
