TPC AT SUGARLOAF
🇺🇸 Duluth, GA, USA
Designed by Greg Norman

TPC at Sugarloaf features two distinct nines—the Stables and Meadows—designed by Greg Norman and opened in 1997. Located in Duluth, a northern suburb of Atlanta, the course was built as part of the Tournament Players Club network and served as host to the BellSouth Classic on the PGA Tour from 1997 through 2008. The facility reflects Norman's design approach from that era, emphasizing strategic options and playability for both tour professionals and recreational golfers.
The Stables and Meadows nines combine to create a parkland layout that moves through rolling terrain characteristic of the Georgia Piedmont. Water features prominently throughout the routing, with lakes and streams affecting play on multiple holes. The design incorporates generous landing areas off the tee but tightens considerably around the greens, where Norman's signature large, undulating putting surfaces demand precision on approach shots. Bunkering is strategic rather than penal, typically positioned to challenge better players while offering recovery options for higher handicappers.
During its PGA Tour tenure, the course saw winners including Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson. The tournament's departure in 2009 marked a transition for the facility, which continues to operate as a semi-private club. The TPC at Sugarloaf maintains the infrastructure and conditioning standards associated with the TPC brand, offering a tournament-tested layout accessible to the broader golfing public in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
