Spring Lake at Spring Lake Country Club

Spring Lake Country Club sits along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in the small resort community of Spring Lake, Michigan. The course was designed by Tom Bendelow, the Scottish-born architect who laid out hundreds of courses across the American Midwest in the early twentieth century. Bendelow worked primarily for the A.G. Spalding sporting goods company and became known for creating playable, economical designs that brought golf to communities throughout the region during the sport's first wave of expansion in the United States.

The layout occupies rolling terrain characteristic of western Michigan's lakeshore topography, shaped by glacial activity and proximity to the Great Lakes. Courses in this area typically feature natural elevation changes, sandy subsoil that provides good drainage, and mature tree-lined corridors.
