South Shore at SouthShore Golf Club

SouthShore Golf Club sits along the western shore of Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, approximately seventeen miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. Jack Nicklaus designed the course in the late 1990s as part of the Lake Las Vegas resort development, routing the layout across desert terrain with significant elevation changes and views across the man-made reservoir. The course opened in 2000 and represents one of several Nicklaus designs in the Las Vegas valley.

The routing takes advantage of the lakeside setting, with several holes playing directly along the water's edge while others move through the surrounding desert landscape. The design incorporates the natural topography, with fairways carved through rocky outcroppings and arroyos characteristic of the Mojave Desert environment. Bermudagrass covers the playing surfaces, a practical choice for the region's climate. Strategic bunkering and water hazards feature throughout, typical of Nicklaus's design approach during this period.

SouthShore operates as a semi-private facility, offering both member and daily-fee play. The course has served as a venue for various professional and amateur tournaments over the years, though it has not hosted major championship golf. The Lake Las Vegas area experienced significant development challenges during the 2008 financial crisis, but the golf course has remained in operation. The setting provides a contrast to the urban density of Las Vegas proper, with the lake and surrounding mountains creating a more resort-oriented atmosphere.
