SAHALEE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Sammamish, WA, USA
Designed by Keith Evans, Rees Jones, Ted Robinson

Sahalee's South/North combination, a brute carved from the towering evergreens of Sammamish, Washington, stands as a monument to Northwest golf, a stern test where power and precision are equally venerated. The original Ted Robinson design, massaged later by Rees Jones, reflects a late 1960s aesthetic—demanding length off the tee and favoring approaches that flirt with deep, penal rough framing subtly contoured greens. Playing a round on South/North can feel like a heavyweight fight; a misstep can lead to a quick knockout.
Sahalee attained legendary status by hosting the 1998 PGA Championship, where Vijay Singh tamed its demanding layout. Twelve years later, the Senior US Open returned to Sahalee, as well as the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Its legacy is etched not just in championship lore, but also in the countless rounds played within its tight-knit membership.
While perhaps not nationally renowned amongst the most widely recognized courses, Sahalee enjoys a strong reputation for the quality and challenge of its layout, drawing players who appreciate a demanding test within a serene, wooded setting. It is often said that the spirit of competition runs deep here, with friendly but fierce matches a common sight among the members.
Reviews
Former host of the PGA championship and dubbed Sa-Hallway by some due to its tree lined fairways. Course is t as tight as it looks from the tee exceptin couple spots. Rolling terrain elevated greens all in great shape. Highly recommend
Overall tight course as you would expect from a north-west course. Tight fairways lined with trees. Lucky enough to play after the women’s PGA championship so greens were rolling pretty fast. Great course with great views.
Incredibly beautiful - but also incredibly tight and challenging off the tee.
