The Gallery Golf Club

The Gallery Golf Club's South Course, designed by John Fought and opened in 1999, occupies dramatic Sonoran Desert terrain in the foothills of the Tortolita Mountains north of Tucson. Fought routed the layout through natural desert washes and across rolling elevation changes that provide expansive views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The course sits at approximately 2,700 feet elevation, where saguaro cacti, palo verde, and ocotillo frame fairways carved through the native landscape. The design philosophy emphasizes strategic options rather than forced carries, with generous landing areas that reward thoughtful positioning over pure distance. Several holes play along ridgelines or drop into desert valleys, creating memorable elevation changes and visual drama. The bunkering style reflects the desert setting, with natural-edged hazards that blend into the surrounding terrain. Greens are typically large and contoured, demanding precise approach play and careful reading on the putting surfaces. The Gallery operates as a semi-private facility and has hosted various regional amateur and professional events over the years. The property includes a second course, the North Course designed by Tom Lehman, giving members and guests access to 36 holes of desert golf. The clubhouse takes advantage of the elevated site, offering panoramic views across the high desert landscape toward multiple mountain ranges that define southern Arizona's distinctive topography.
