Son Muntaner occupies rolling terrain in the hills northwest of Palma de Mallorca, designed by Kurt Rossknecht and opened in the early 2000s. The course sits on what was once an agricultural estate, and the routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and views across the Mallorcan landscape toward the Tramuntana mountains. Rossknecht, a German architect who has worked extensively in Spain and other Mediterranean regions, shaped the layout to incorporate native vegetation and stone features characteristic of the island.

The design moves through varied topography, with several holes playing along ridgelines and others descending into small valleys. Fairways are generally generous, but the bunkering and green complexes require precision on approach shots. The property includes mature trees—primarily pines and Mediterranean species—that frame holes without overly constricting play. Water features appear on a handful of holes, integrated into the natural drainage patterns of the land.

Son Muntaner serves as the home course for a private membership while also welcoming visitors, a common arrangement among Mallorca's resort-area clubs. The clubhouse reflects traditional Mallorcan architecture, and the facility includes practice areas and dining amenities. The course has hosted regional amateur events and remains a regular stop for golfers visiting the island, offering a parkland-style experience distinct from some of Mallorca's more links-influenced coastal layouts.
