Shoreline at Shoreline Golf Course

Shoreline Golf Course sits along the eastern shore of Carter Lake, a distinctive oxbow lake that forms Iowa's only territory west of the Missouri River. The lake was created in 1877 when flooding caused the river to cut a new channel, leaving this horseshoe bend isolated and creating the unusual geographic situation where a portion of Iowa lies on the Nebraska side of the Missouri. Patrick Wyss designed the course to take advantage of this unique lakeside setting, routing holes along the water's edge and through the relatively flat terrain characteristic of the Missouri River floodplain.

The layout incorporates views of Carter Lake throughout the round, with several holes playing directly alongside the water. The course serves the communities of both Carter Lake, Iowa, and neighboring Omaha, Nebraska, providing accessible public golf in the metro area. The flat to gently rolling topography allows for walkable golf, while mature trees frame many fairways and add definition to the routing.

Shoreline functions as a straightforward daily-fee facility, offering recreational golf without the formality of private club traditions. The course provides a local option for golfers in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area, with the lakeside setting distinguishing it from other regional layouts.
