MONTEREY PENINSULA COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Pebble Beach, CA, USA
Designed by Bob E. Baldock

Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club unfolds as a captivating counterpoint to its famed neighbor across the street. Carved into the dramatic coastal bluffs of Pebble Beach, its heritage is deeply rooted in the Golden Age of golf course architecture, a style evident in its strategic bunkering and natural integration with the terrain.
Designed initially by Robert Baldock, with significant later enhancements by Mike Strantz and more recently by Tom Fazio, Shore presents a distinctly different challenge than its more celebrated sibling. While not as relentlessly demanding in length, Shore favors strategic play and precise iron work. The course meanders through cypress trees and rolling dunes, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean from nearly every hole. Locals will tell you the prevailing winds can transform the course dramatically, demanding different game planning from one day to the next. This more playable layout is also known for its exceptionally strong collection of par threes.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club has long enjoyed a relaxed, understated membership known for its camaraderie and love of the game. While it hasn’t hosted major professional championships, Shore Course holds a respected position in regional amateur circles. The club has quietly cultivated a loyal following, many of whom appreciate Shore's engaging design and unparalleled views. It also has the more casual vibe for being on the opposite side of the street as the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Reviews
Shore is better than Dunes… I’ve said it
So much fun. Pretty wide fairways, interesting greens complexes (was like putting on ice when I played), and great views.
Not much needs to be said. Spectacular top to bottom.
