Shingle Creek Course
Orlando, FL, USA

Shingle Creek Golf Club unfurls across the landscape near Orlando’s bustling tourism corridor, an unexpected oasis from the theme park frenzy. Originally conceived in the early 2000s, the course recently underwent a significant redesign by Thad Layton of Arnold Palmer Design Company, transforming it into a more strategically engaging layout that respects the natural wetlands. The terrain is classic Florida parkland, albeit elevated with strategic mounding and undulation unusual for the region. Generous fairways belie the challenge lurking greenside, where tightly mown collection areas and strategically placed bunkers punish errant approaches. Shingle Creek favors a precise iron game and rewards thoughtful course management over brute force. The course is fair but firm, and conditions are well-maintained and playable year round. Though not a fixture on professional tournament schedules, Shingle Creek provides a stern but fair test to the enthusiastic golf community in Orlando, and has become a popular venue for local and regional amateur competitions. Post-round, players often congregate at the clubhouse, where talk frequently turns to the subtle breaks on the greens and the unexpected challenges presented by the deceptively placid water hazards.

This place is challenging with blind water hazards — definitely has resort vibes. I competed in the Junior tour powered by Under Armour 2025 here. There’s like a convention center next to it.. and it’s in the heart of a very busy area. It’s a nice place. but not really my favorite.
Shingle Creek is a great resort course in the Orlando Area. The course features a great range and practice area. It’s a very fun course, that’s pretty open and gettable.
