SHERWOOD COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Thousand Oaks, CA, USA
Designed by Jack Nicklaus
Sherwood Country Club, nestled in the rolling hills of Westlake Village, is synonymous with a particular brand of celebrity-infused, Southern California golf. This is a place where Hollywood glitz meets Jack Nicklaus’s exacting design, a course as visually stunning as it is strategically demanding.
The Nicklaus design, carved into the Santa Monica Mountains, favors a power fade off the tee, rewarding length without sacrificing accuracy. The verdant fairways contrast sharply with the rugged, natural landscape, creating a dramatic, almost cinematic playing experience. Sherwood hosted the Chevron World Challenge for over a decade, an unofficial PGA Tour event that saw Tiger Woods hoist the trophy here multiple times, further cementing the course's place in the modern golfing consciousness.
Beyond the championship pedigree, Sherwood offers a certain West Coast exclusivity. Known for its affluent and often famous membership, the club exudes an atmosphere of relaxed luxury. It's a place where business deals are conducted on the back nine and post-round gatherings are as much a part of the experience as the golf itself. This is the ethos of Sherwood, golf meets entertainment, meets the highest echelons of southern California society.
Reviews
Probably one of the best conditioned clubs in LA area. Pretty difficult off the tee, bunch of interesting shots. Great all day experience. Wish it was more walkable.
