SEVEN SPRINGS MOUNTAIN RESORT
🇺🇸 Champion, PA, USA
Designed by Ferdinand Garbin, Ron Forse, Xenophon Hassenplug

Seven Springs Mountain Resort operates a golf course in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania, approximately fifteen miles southeast of the town of Somerset. The property sits at elevation in a mountainous region known primarily for winter sports, and the course occupies rolling terrain carved from the surrounding forest. The original layout was designed by Xenophon Hassenplug, a Pennsylvania-based architect active in the mid-twentieth century who worked on several courses in the state. Ron Forse, known for his restoration work on classic American designs, and Ferdinand Garbin later contributed to modifications or updates to the routing.
The course plays through wooded corridors with elevation changes characteristic of the Allegheny Plateau. Fairways move across hillsides and through clearings, and several holes feature downhill tee shots or approach plays to greens set into slopes. The mountain setting provides natural definition and isolation between holes, though the terrain can produce uneven lies and require thoughtful club selection on approach shots. Water features appear on a few holes, typically in the form of ponds or streams that cross fairways or guard greens.
Seven Springs functions as part of a resort complex that includes lodging, dining, and extensive ski facilities. The golf course serves resort guests and regional players during the warmer months, offering a mountain golf experience in an area better known for winter recreation. The course provides a contrast to the flatter, parkland layouts more common in western Pennsylvania's valleys.
