INDIAN BAYOU GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Destin, FL, USA
Designed by Earl Stone

Indian Bayou Golf Club's Seminole and Choctaw nines form two-thirds of a 27-hole facility designed by Earl Stone and opened in 1978. The course occupies a coastal setting in Destin, where the layout navigates through natural wetlands, bayous, and stands of native pine and oak. Stone, a regional architect active across the Florida Panhandle during the 1970s and 1980s, routed the holes to incorporate the area's characteristic water features and preserve much of the existing vegetation. The relatively flat terrain typical of this part of the Gulf Coast is punctuated by the bayou corridors that give the property its name and strategic interest.
The Seminole nine begins the round for most pairings and features several holes that play along or across wetland areas, requiring accurate placement off the tee. The Choctaw nine continues in similar character, with water hazards influencing play on multiple holes and native grasses framing the fairways. The course serves both resort guests and local members in a region known for its beach tourism, and the layout reflects a balance between challenge and playability suited to a wide range of golfers. The clubhouse and practice facilities support the 27-hole operation, which includes a third nine (the Creek) that completes the Stone design.
Indian Bayou remains a fixture in the Destin golf market, offering a traditional parkland experience shaped by the coastal lowland environment of the western Florida Panhandle.
