Tremendous layout and challenging hole designs. Caddies are a must and are good. It’s way harder than Mammoth.
Natural and pure golf. My preferred place to play on the property. I love the layout. Every hole is unique. Conditions are ideal. Stylistically similar to Mammoth Dunes, but more strategic in all aspects. I would happily play this course over and over again.
Great Coore-Crenshaw design that is challenging yet fun to play. Firm conditions all around the course. Tee shots on 1 and 10 are just awesome and the punchbowl green on 17 is very unique.
The original SV course is one of Coore and Crenshaws best. I Enjoy looping SV every time I’m there.
Honestly it’s like barely worse than mammoth to me. I like that it’s more strategic and difficult. Another amazing walk on an amazing property
Need to go back for Lido and plan to play SV OG again to see if it's as good as I remember. Really nice C&C resort course that's recently been overshadowed by new builds there. 17 is an all world par 3.
SV is a Coore and Crenshaw masterclass. The vast sand dunes that define Sand Valley create a challenging yet unforgettable experience. The fairways remain lush atop miles of ancient dunes, while the natural fescue and native grasses provide an authentic test for golfers of all levels. The service is world-class—welcoming from the moment you arrive. Caddies are knowledgeable and personable, and the concessions are both affordable and excellent (don’t miss the $1 tacos and ice cream sandwiches). If you’re up for it, take advantage of the replay deals: the second round of the day is half off, and the third is just $100 for the truly ambitious. Set in the heart of Wisconsin, the property feels worlds away. It’s easy to lose yourself in the charm and serenity of the landscape. Sand Valley is a must-play destination, and make sure to experience Mammoth Dunes, The Lido, and The Sandbox while you’re there.
Fun track! My favorite at Sand Valley! Not rushing to go back
As a firm believer that links golf is superior, sand valley is shining example of why. Immaculate conditions, firm turf, and exciting greens this course remains one of my favorites. Coore and Crenshaw are one of my favorite designers in the game today and sand valley displays why they are apart of the new era golden age of golf designs. An incredible piece of land is used to absolute perfection with challenging yet fun holes around every turn. A track that gets better with each play, Sand valley is one of those courses you could play thousands of times and not get bored. The par 4 9th remains one of the best holes I’ve ever played and it might not even be the best hole on the course. This course is worth the trip to middle of nowhere Wisconsin alone.
The front nine is bangers only. It slows a little bit from 11-14, but it’s very, very good. Convex greens here vs concave greens at Mammoth, which makes it a great 36 hole pairing.
