Saint-Laurent/Richelieu at Golf Manoir Richelieu

Golf Manoir Richelieu sits on a dramatic clifftop site overlooking the St. Lawrence River in the Charlevoix region of Québec, approximately 90 minutes northeast of Québec City. The course occupies terrain where the Canadian Shield meets the river, creating significant elevation changes and natural features uncommon in eastern Canadian golf. Darrell Huxham designed the layout to take advantage of these topographical extremes, routing holes along the cliff edge and through forested interior sections that rise and fall with the underlying bedrock.

The course is part of the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu resort, a historic property that has served the region since the late 19th century. The routing includes several holes that play directly along the river bluff, offering views across the St. Lawrence toward the Laurentian Mountains. The combination of riverside exposure and inland forest creates varied playing conditions, with wind often a factor on the open clifftop holes while the tree-lined interior sections demand accuracy.

Charlevoix is known for its distinctive landscape—a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve shaped by ancient meteor impact—and the course reflects this rugged character. The property's elevation changes require strategic club selection and course management, particularly on holes that move up or down the slope. The course serves both resort guests and regional golfers, functioning as one of the few full-length layouts in this part of Québec that combines serious golf with the area's natural scenery and resort amenities.
