ROSEBURG COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Roseburg, OR, USA
Designed by George Junor

Roseburg Country Club sits in the Umpqua Valley of southwestern Oregon, where the town of Roseburg serves as the commercial center for a timber and agricultural region between the Cascade Range and the Coast Range. The course was designed by George Junor, a Pacific Northwest architect active in the early-to-mid twentieth century who laid out several courses in Oregon and Washington. The club reflects the tradition of small-town country clubs that emerged across America during golf's expansion in the 1920s and 1930s, providing a social and recreational hub for local business and professional communities.
The routing takes advantage of the valley's gently rolling terrain, with fairways framed by Douglas fir and oak. The Umpqua Valley's climate—milder and drier than the coastal regions but less extreme than areas east of the Cascades—allows for a relatively long playing season. The course presents a straightforward test of golf without severe elevation change, emphasizing accuracy off the tee and approach play to greens that reflect the design sensibilities of Junor's era.
Roseburg Country Club has served for decades as the primary private golf facility in Douglas County. The club hosts local amateur competitions and provides a gathering place for members drawn from Roseburg's business community and surrounding areas. The layout remains a representative example of regional golf course architecture from the period, adapted over time to modern maintenance practices while retaining its original character.
Reviews
Good small town private course. For a small town this is an unexpectedly good course. Greens were medium speed the day I played. Lots of terrain movement. Walking is possible for the young and or in shape. Pretty hilly. Some good holes with some small town quirk there is a green with a nearly impossible slope on the back 9. Worth playing some very nice views of the surrounding wine country.
