ROCK CREEK CATTLE COMPANY
🇺🇸 Deer Lodge, MT, USA
Designed by Tom Doak

Rock Creek, at Rock Creek Cattle Company, unfolds across a landscape where cattle once roamed, now graced by a course that tests both ambition and restraint. Sculpted into the Montana high country near Deer Lodge, its scale feels more akin to the vastness of the surrounding ranches than a manicured lawn.
Designed by Tom Doak, Rock Creek eschews the artifice of modern stadium courses, embracing the natural contours of the land. Wide fairways, characteristic of Doak’s strategic philosophy, encourage aggressive play, but wayward shots are penalized severely by the native grasses and unpredictable winds that sweep across the open terrain. The course features dramatic elevation changes and blind shots and is known for its challenging greens, where subtle breaks and deceptive speeds demand respect and careful study.
While Rock Creek has remained largely outside the spotlight of major championships, its appeal lies in the purity of the golfing experience it offers. Its remote location fosters a close-knit community of discerning golfers who value camaraderie and the challenge of a truly unique test. The club's burger is a well-known staple among members and guests.
