The Pheasant Golf Links sits in Shortsville, a small community in Ontario County in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The course was designed by Roc Furfare, whose work in the region reflects the rolling agricultural terrain characteristic of western New York. The property takes advantage of the natural topography found in this part of the state, where glacial activity shaped gentle ridges and valleys that now host both farmland and recreational development. The Finger Lakes area provides a distinct setting for golf, with courses often incorporating views of the surrounding countryside and benefiting from the moderate climate influenced by the nearby lakes. Shortsville itself lies between Canandaigua Lake to the east and the larger Rochester metropolitan area to the north, placing the course within a network of regional golf facilities that serve both local players and visitors exploring the wine country and recreational offerings of the Finger Lakes. The Pheasant Golf Links operates as part of the community golf landscape in Ontario County, where courses tend to balance accessibility with the natural character of the land. The design likely works with the existing grades and vegetation typical of the region, offering a layout that reflects both the architect's approach and the practical considerations of developing golf in rural upstate New York.
