Skjoldnæsholm Golf

Skjoldnæsholm Golf sits in the Zealand countryside near Jystrup, roughly an hour southwest of Copenhagen. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed the course in the late 1980s as part of a broader development around Skjoldnæsholm Manor, a historic estate whose grounds provide the setting for the layout. The property includes woodlands, open farmland, and water features that Jones incorporated into a routing characteristic of his European work from that period. The course reflects Jones's strategic design philosophy, with generous fairways that reward thoughtful positioning and greens protected by bunkers and water hazards. Several holes play along or across lakes and ponds, while mature trees frame other corridors and define playing angles. The terrain is relatively gentle by Danish standards, allowing for a walkable round that still presents variety in elevation and shot requirements. Skjoldnæsholm operates as a members' club but welcomes visitors, making it one of the more accessible championship-length courses in the Copenhagen region. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that serves traditional Danish fare.
