ROBERT TRENT JONES GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Gainesville, VA, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, carved into the rolling landscape of Gainesville, Virginia, stands as a testament to a master architect's vision and a haven for discerning golfers. The course's design showcases Jones's signature blend of strategic play and aesthetic appeal, resulting in a layout that is both challenging and rewarding.
Opened in 1991, this Modern-era parkland course unfolds along the shores of Lake Manassas, where water hazards come into play on nearly every hole. The course plays long from the tips, but is still playable to a variety of handicaps. Jones used the rolling terrain to create dramatic elevation changes and incorporate natural features into the design.
Robert Trent Jones Golf Club holds the unique distinction of being the only club ever personally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. His goal was to create a course worthy of championship play, a feat realized when the club hosted the first three Presidents Cup matches held in the United States (1994, 1996, 2000, and again in 2005).
