TRUMP NATIONAL GOLF CLUB WASHINGTON DC
🇺🇸 Potomac Falls, VA, USA
Designed by Arthur Hills
Trump National Golf Club Washington DC, located in Potomac Falls along the Potomac River, opened in 2009 on a property with significant elevation changes and natural water features. Arthur Hills designed the course to take advantage of the dramatic topography, with fairways that move through wooded corridors and along ridgelines offering views of the river valley. The routing incorporates substantial elevation shifts, with several holes playing uphill or downhill through the rolling Virginia terrain.
The course features a number of holes that play along or near the Potomac River, particularly on the back nine, where the river comes into view and influences both strategy and scenery. Hills incorporated natural rock outcroppings and native vegetation throughout the design, maintaining a connection to the landscape while creating strategic challenges through bunkering and green complexes. The property's scale allows for generous fairway corridors, though accuracy remains important given the tree-lined nature of many holes.
The club underwent renovations and rebranding after its acquisition in 2009, transforming from the previous Lowes Island Club. The facility includes extensive practice areas and a clubhouse positioned to overlook the course and river views. The course has hosted various regional amateur events and serves as a private club in the northern Virginia area, drawing membership from the Washington DC metropolitan region.
