RIVERCLIFF GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Bull Shoals, AR, USA
Designed by Earl Stone
Rivercliff Golf Course sits in the Ozark Mountain region of north-central Arkansas, near Bull Shoals Lake and the Missouri border. Designed by Earl Stone and opened in the early 1990s, the course occupies rolling, wooded terrain characteristic of the area, with elevation changes and natural rock outcroppings that give the layout its name and character. Stone, who designed several courses across Arkansas and the mid-South during this period, routed the holes through dense hardwood forest and along ridgelines that overlook the White River valley below.
The course plays through a mix of elevated tee shots and approach shots to greens set on plateaus or nestled into hillsides. The topography creates natural drama, with several holes featuring significant drops from tee to fairway and others climbing back uphill. Doglegs follow the contours of the land, and the tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee. The rock formations and limestone bluffs that appear throughout the property add visual interest and strategic challenge, particularly around greens and hazard areas.
Rivercliff serves both local members and visitors drawn to the Bull Shoals area for fishing and outdoor recreation. The course offers a relatively affordable option in a region known more for its lakes and rivers than for golf, and it provides a woodland mountain golf experience distinct from the flatter layouts found elsewhere in Arkansas. The setting remains quiet and natural, with views extending across forested ridges toward the lake country beyond.
