RIVER PLACE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Austin, TX, USA
Designed by Roy Bechtol, Tom Kite
Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, River Place Country Club presents a distinctly Texan golfing experience. The Tom Kite design, routed through dramatic elevation changes and dense cedar breaks, demands strategic shot-making rather than raw power. A slight fade off the tee is often rewarded, particularly on the back nine where the course tightens and requires navigating blind approaches.
River Place reflects Kite's modern sensibility. While not nationally renowned, the course holds a strong regional reputation for its challenging layout and commitment to environmental stewardship. The undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers ensure that golfers of all skill levels are tested.
The Club fosters a welcoming atmosphere, renowned for its robust member-guest tournaments and a post-round camaraderie centered around the club's famed smoked brisket. While championship golf may not be its calling card, River Place offers an authentic and enjoyable Texas golf experience, celebrated by its loyal and convivial membership.
Reviews
Very great layout, however recently it’s been in poor condition for a while. So much potential.
Awesome elevation changes right off the first tee. A lot of mando carry similar to Spanish Oaks. Have to play a lot of creative shots. Not easy, but super fun.
