RICHMOND COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Richmond, CA, USA
Designed by Bill Sawyer

Richmond Country Club, nestled in the rolling East Bay hills, remains a testament to understated, classic golf, a low-key counterpoint to the flashier courses of Northern California. The original design, conceived in the early 1900s, displays early American golf architecture, a bygone era of strategic bunkering and subtly contoured greens.
The course presents a parkland-style layout, meandering through mature oaks and eucalyptus trees. While not exceptionally long, Richmond demands thoughtful play and a mastery of iron distances. Doglegs challenge golfers and reward well-placed tee shots. Famed for their tight knit, and loyal membership, members enjoy a course that provides a good test of golf but never feels overly punishing, a place to enjoy the comradery and the views.
Richmond Country Club has hosted local amateur events, remaining a prominent fixture in the regional golfing landscape. While not a destination for major championships, it's a well respected, enjoyable golf course for its members.
Richmond Country Club is perhaps best known by its members for the post round conversations on the patio overlooking the East Bay, and the club's commitment to its junior golf program, fostering the next generation of golfers, and that good old fashioned sense of community.
