DEBELL GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Burbank, CA, USA
Designed by Richard Bigler, William Francis Bell
DeBell Golf Club, etched into the Verdugo Mountains above Burbank, presents a demanding test born of its hillside setting. Originally conceived in the late 1950s, its modernist design capitalizes on dramatic elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers that punish anything less than committed shot-making. The layout, while lacking championship pedigree, subtly favors a left-to-right ball flight as it unfolds across the undulating terrain, demanding players to navigate doglegs and blind approaches.
The original design came courtesy of William F. Bell, known for his work at iconic California courses. Later renovations have sought to balance playability with Bell’s original intent, ensuring the course remains a stern but fair challenge for golfers of all abilities. Though DeBell hasn’t hosted professional majors, its challenging layout and stunning views of the San Fernando Valley have made it a popular venue for local amateur tournaments and club championships, fostering a competitive atmosphere amongst its passionate members.
Beyond the course, DeBell's reputation extends to its vibrant social scene, centered around the clubhouse known for its panoramic views. The club is also known locally for its popular "Taco Tuesdays" offering, a casual gathering enjoyed by members and guests alike, adding to the course's casual local charm and community atmosphere.

Cool quirky course. Not quite as packed as the LA city courses, a bit out there but a fun round with some cool views. Worth the trip
