Regensburg at Golf- und Land-Club Regensburg

Golf- und Land-Club Regensburg occupies the grounds of Jagdschloss Thiergarten, a historic hunting estate in Bavaria approximately ten kilometers northeast of Regensburg. The original eighteen holes were designed by Donald Harradine, the Swiss-British architect who shaped dozens of courses across continental Europe in the mid-twentieth century. Thomas Himmel, a German architect active in course renovations and redesigns, later contributed modifications to the layout. The setting integrates parkland character with mature woodland, reflecting the estate's heritage as a hunting preserve.

The routing moves through varied terrain that includes stands of deciduous and coniferous trees, open fairways, and gentle elevation changes typical of the Bavarian landscape. Water features appear on several holes, and the design emphasizes strategic shot placement rather than extreme length or forced carries. The course serves both competitive play and recreational golf, hosting regional amateur events and club championships. Harradine's European portfolio favored playable layouts that respected natural topography, and Regensburg follows this approach with fairways that accommodate a range of skill levels while rewarding accuracy.
