Redtail Course
Sorrento, FL, USA

Redtail Golf Club sits in Sorrento, a small community in Lake County in central Florida, roughly midway between Orlando and Ocala. Designed by Dave Harman and opened in the late 1990s, the course occupies rolling terrain somewhat unusual for the region, taking advantage of natural elevation changes and mature vegetation that provide definition and character to the layout. The property features a mix of pine and hardwood trees, with several holes playing through wooded corridors while others open to more expansive views across the undulating landscape. The routing makes use of the site's topography, incorporating elevation shifts that create visual interest and strategic variety uncommon in much of central Florida golf. Water comes into play on multiple holes, typical of the region's design vocabulary, but the course distinguishes itself through its use of natural ground movement and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy and course management. The layout offers a range of hole lengths and configurations, providing different challenges throughout the round. Redtail operates as a semi-private facility, serving both members and daily-fee players. The course has established itself as a solid option in the Lake County golf market, appealing to golfers seeking a traditional parkland experience with more terrain variation than the flatter layouts common to peninsular Florida. The club maintains a straightforward, accessible atmosphere focused on the golf experience itself.

This is probably one of my favorite places to play. It is definitely a super difficult course. High drama high stakes every turn. Beautiful views and the best of Florida wildlife. The rough is rough. You can lose your ball in the second cut. But the greens are really nice. They have good speed. The pro shop doesn’t really have a lot, but the pros there Mr. Drew and Drew Jr are really cool. The club house is big and I like to eat there, shout out to Mr. Lee and Jennifer. Redtail is on Youth on Course. I try to play here once a week. Excellent weekday course.
