ALISAL GUEST RANCH & RESORT
🇺🇸 Solvang, CA, USA
Designed by William Francis Bell
The Alisal Ranch's two courses, the Ranch and the River, offer a classic California golf experience steeped in the spirit of the Rancho lifestyle. These courses, set against the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Valley, echo the region’s heritage of hospitality and understated luxury.
The Ranch Course, designed by Billy Bell Jr. in 1956, unfolds across gently rolling hills dotted with mature oaks and sycamores. Its wide fairways and approachable greens invite a relaxed, playable round – one where strategic positioning trumps brute power. The River Course, a more modern Ted Robinson design, meanders along the valley floor, bringing the Santa Ynez River into play. Known for its scenic beauty and more demanding layout, the River Course asks golfers to navigate water hazards and tighter landing areas. While neither course is a regular stop on the professional tour, they provide a stern test for club play.
Beyond the golf, Alisal Ranch embodies a unique blend of Western tradition and refined hospitality. It’s a place where the echoes of cattle drives blend with the clinking of glasses at sunset. A long standing tradition for generations of California families, and those that continue to return each year from across the globe. Alisal offers golfers a respite from the game's intensity, fostering a sense of camaraderie amongst its members and resort guests alike.
