BELOURA - PESTANA GOLF & RESORT
🇵🇹 Sintra, Lisboa e Setúbal, PT
Designed by Rocky Roquemore
Quinta da Beloura sits in the hills of Sintra, roughly 25 kilometers northwest of Lisbon, within a residential and resort development. Rocky Roquemore designed the course, which opened in the mid-1990s as part of the Pestana Golf & Resort portfolio. The layout occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Sintra region, with elevation changes and natural vegetation that includes pine and eucalyptus. The course plays through a mix of open and wooded sections, with fairways that move across the property's natural contours.
The routing takes advantage of the site's topography, presenting golfers with uphill and downhill shots and several holes where positioning off the tee becomes important given the slopes and doglegs. Water features appear on multiple holes, adding strategic elements to club selection and approach play. The design incorporates both risk-reward opportunities and more straightforward holes, creating variety across the eighteen.
Quinta da Beloura serves both resort guests and members, functioning as a accessible option for visitors to the Lisbon area who want to combine golf with proximity to Sintra's historic attractions. The course fits within Portugal's broader golf tourism landscape, offering a parkland-style experience in a region better known for links and coastal designs further south along the Algarve. The clubhouse provides standard amenities and dining consistent with resort operations.
