PYRFORD LAKES GOLF CLUB
🏴 Pyrford, Surrey, England
Designed by Peter Alliss, Clive Clark

Pyrford Lakes Golf Club sits in the village of Pyrford in Surrey, roughly midway between Woking and Weybridge. The course was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark and opened in the early 1990s on former farmland and gravel workings. The design makes extensive use of the site's water features, with lakes and ponds coming into play on numerous holes—a defining characteristic that gives the club its name.
The routing takes advantage of the relatively flat Surrey terrain, incorporating mature trees and strategic bunkering alongside the water hazards. Alliss and Clark, both experienced in creating parkland layouts accessible to a range of abilities, shaped a course that emphasizes accuracy and course management over pure length. The water features require thoughtful club selection and create visual interest throughout the round, though the design avoids excessive penal elements.
Pyrford Lakes operates as a members' club with visiting opportunities, and the facilities include a clubhouse that overlooks the course and its network of lakes. The setting retains a semi-rural character despite the proximity to Greater London, with views across open Surrey countryside. The course has hosted regional amateur events and serves as a home club for competitive golfers in the area, though it remains primarily a members' venue rather than a championship site.
Reviews
Pyrford has a phenomenal layout and it had the potential to be a seriously great course. On top of this I have had some sensation rounds here in sunrise and sunset. I struggle to knock the place. I have found it’s super busy at peak time and can lead to crazy slow rounds which is awful. But this has been hit and miss. The new club house is phenomenal and the course holds up pretty well with I having so much water, it can burn out a lot but for the most part it’s pretty pure. I think the layout is a fun challenge and I usually love it here.
