El Conquistador Country Club

Pusch Ridge occupies the northern reaches of Tucson's resort corridor, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Pusch Ridge Wilderness Area for which it is named. The course forms part of the El Conquistador Country Club complex, a resort and residential community that has anchored this section of Oracle Road since the 1980s. The routing takes advantage of the high Sonoran Desert terrain, with elevation changes and arroyos shaping the strategic character of the holes. Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin designed Pusch Ridge to work with the natural desert landscape rather than impose heavily manufactured features on it. The layout incorporates native vegetation including saguaro cacti, palo verde, and mesquite, with fairways carved through the desert floor and greens that reflect the surrounding topography. Water comes into play selectively, and the bunkering tends toward natural, irregular shapes that echo the washes and rock formations of the region. The course serves both resort guests and club members, functioning as one of multiple golf facilities in the El Conquistador complex. Views extend north toward the Catalinas and across the Tucson basin, with the mountain backdrop providing constant orientation throughout the round. The design reflects the desert golf aesthetic that became prevalent in Arizona during the late twentieth century, balancing playability for a range of skill levels with the visual drama of the high desert setting.
