PUNTA ESPADA GOLF COURSE
🇩🇴 Punta Cana, La Altagracia, DO
Designed by Jack Nicklaus

Punta Espada, the centerpiece of Cap Cana, is where oceanfront golf was redefined in the Dominican Republic. Jack Nicklaus, embracing the dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters, crafted a course that is both visually arresting and strategically challenging.
The layout, a modern interpretation of seaside links, unfurls across a varied terrain of exposed rock, sandy stretches, and undulating greens. Players must contend with prevailing trade winds and strategically placed bunkers, rewarding controlled ball flight and inventive shot-making. A subtle fade is often favored, as several holes hug the coastline, daring golfers to flirt with the Atlantic's edge.
Punta Espada hosted the Cap Cana Championship, a PGA Tour Champions event from 2008-2010, won by Mark Wiebe, Keith Fergus, and Fred Couples. While not a fixture on the professional circuit currently, its challenging design and breathtaking setting consistently draw discerning golfers seeking a memorable Caribbean experience.
Reviews
The second might be the best in the world. Other 17 are not too bad either
The views alone make this place so special. Then add how good the design is and it really makes for a treat.
Incredibly beautiful course. Incredible grass conditions and firm greens. Just a way too challenging golf course for me with the wind.
