PUERTO CANCUN GOLF COURSE
🇲🇽 Cancún, Quintana Roo, MX
Designed by Tom Weiskopf

Puerto Cancun Golf Course occupies a narrow strip of land between the Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea in Cancún's hotel zone. Tom Weiskopf designed the course to take advantage of this distinctive setting, routing holes through mangrove preserves and along the lagoon's edge. The layout incorporates the region's natural wetlands and native vegetation, with several holes offering views across the water toward the resort developments that define modern Cancún.
The course sits at sea level on flat terrain typical of the Yucatán Peninsula's Caribbean coast. Weiskopf's design works within these constraints by using the lagoon as a strategic element and preserving corridors of mangroves that frame many holes. The routing moves through different zones of the property, with some holes playing beside the water and others threading through denser vegetation inland. Wind from the Caribbean influences play, particularly on the more exposed holes near the lagoon.
Puerto Cancun serves both resort guests and local members in one of Mexico's primary tourist destinations. The course operates year-round in Cancún's tropical climate, with the layout designed to handle the region's seasonal rainfall and maintain playability for visitors who make up a significant portion of the daily rounds. The facility includes practice areas and clubhouse amenities typical of courses serving the Cancún resort market.
