Prestwick at Prestwick Country Club, nestled in the heart of Myrtle Beach, is a testament to the enduring appeal of risk-reward golf. Carved from the rolling, pine-studded landscape characteristic of the Grand Strand, the course presents a strategic challenge where aggressive play is often rewarded, but never without peril. Water features and strategically placed bunkers guard many of the greens, demanding thoughtful club selection and precise execution. While not a course known for hosting major championships, its subtle challenges and Southern charm have made it a favorite among local golfers.
Designed by Pete Dye's firm in the late 1980s, the layout reflects the era's emphasis on visual drama and strategic complexity. The fairways are generous, yet the approach shots often require navigating tight angles and elevated greens. The course's design encourages players to think their way around the course, rather than simply overpowering it with length. Prestwick strikes a unique balance that favors the thinking golfer with a knack for shot-making.
The course maintains a strong connection to its local community. Prestwick is known for its unpretentious atmosphere and a membership that genuinely enjoys the camaraderie of the game. After a round, the clubhouse offers a relaxed setting, and the course is rumored to have a legendary oyster roast, a favorite of its members. The staff has also been known to provide personalized attention and Southern hospitality to both members and visitors.
Prestwick Country Club, while not nationally renowned, provides an authentic Myrtle Beach golf experience that emphasizes playability, community, and the simple pleasures of a well-designed course. Its enduring appeal lies in its ability to challenge golfers of all skill levels while offering a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.

Overall the course conditions were adequate. Greens were in excellent shape with moderate speed. Not sure the value is there for the price. Positive was we played in 3:30 total.
Typical MB Muni, tough times have fallen on course.
