PRESTON TRAIL GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Dallas, TX, USA
Designed by Byron Nelson, Ralph Plummer, Tripp Davis
Preston Trail is where legends are born, and victories echo through the whispering oaks of North Dallas. A product of the early 1960s, this meticulously sculpted parkland course unfolds across gently rolling terrain, its tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens demanding strategic play and a deft touch. The design subtly favors those who can shape the ball left to right, rewarding thoughtful approaches and punishing errant drives with thick rough and strategically placed bunkers.
Ralph Plummer's original design has been thoughtfully refined over the years, ensuring that Preston Trail remains a relevant test for the modern game. Although not known for hosting national championships, the club's demanding layout and commitment to impeccable conditioning have made it a favored venue for prestigious regional amateur events.
Beyond the golf, Preston Trail fosters a deeply rooted membership culture, where business titans mingle with accomplished amateurs, sharing stories and camaraderie. And like any great club, there's lore – tales of high-stakes matches, legendary shots, and the quiet satisfaction of conquering one of Dallas's most respected courses. The grill room's renowned chicken fried steak, a Texas staple, is perhaps as popular as the 18th hole itself.
Reviews
One of maybe a few invites in Dallas you never turn down. The prestige and aura of the club is second to none. The old school nature of the clubhouse is perfect for this club. The golf course is nothing special but always in unbelievable shape. But that’s not why you go. They have kept membership best in class and it’s my favorite round of golf in Dallas for all those reasons.
Special place and a true retreat from the hustle of Dallas. The course is kept in immaculate condition and is typically near empty. Staff and service are world class, especially if you’re a member. The course design is a bit tired and will be redesigned in the next few years which will be interesting. An extremely enjoyable golfing experience.
Consistently empty, always a fun day. Condition is immaculate. Course probably needs to be refreshed
