HERMITAGE GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Old Hickory, TN, USA
Designed by Denis Griffiths
Presidents Reserve at Hermitage Golf Course unfolds as a testament to Tennessee's golfing landscape, where tradition meets a modern sensibility. Carved into the rolling terrain of Old Hickory, just outside Nashville, this course offers a distinctly American parkland experience, framed by mature trees and subtle elevation changes. Its generous fairways, punctuated by strategic bunkering, favor a controlled, thoughtful approach, while the subtly contoured greens demand a deft touch. The course is known to those in the know for its undulating greens and the need to be on the correct side of the fairway to attack the pin.
Designed by Denis Griffiths, Presidents Reserve has been a popular fixture in the Nashville golf scene for decades. While not hosting major championships, its layout has proven a stern test for amateur competitions and club events alike. The course offers a democratic playing field, appealing to a wide range of skill levels, making it a cherished setting for both casual rounds and spirited competition. The local lore speaks of a match between a famous country singer and a well-known Nashville restaurateur, a testament to the course's social role within the community.
Hermitage Golf Course itself is known as the oldest public golf course in the state of Tennessee. Its more famous older brother, the General's Retreat, is considered the premier course on the property, but those who know it well can consider the Presidents Reserve to be the local's secret.
Reviews
Sheep
Golf at hermitage will certainly be a unique experience. The course is shared between golfers and free roaming sheep that graze in the high grass and lay in the shade. Shockingly I did not run into any sheep shit and the round was incredibly pleasant. A tasteful routing with solid green sites ensures a good time. The conditions were great and even thought the land was very flat the course was still a test at times. Highly recommend for those in the Nashville area.
