PLUMAS LAKE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Marysville, CA, USA
Designed by Robert Baldock, Donald McKee

Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club sits in Marysville, California, in the Yuba County region of the northern Central Valley. The course was designed by Robert Baldock and Donald McKee, architects who worked primarily in Northern California during the mid-to-late twentieth century. Baldock's portfolio includes several courses throughout the state, often characterized by straightforward layouts suited to the relatively flat terrain common in valley settings.
The routing at Plumas Lake reflects the area's agricultural heritage and level topography, with water features playing a role in both strategy and aesthetics. The Central Valley climate brings hot, dry summers and mild winters, conditions that favor firm playing surfaces and year-round golf. The course serves a residential community, functioning as both a recreational amenity for local members and a public-access facility depending on operational structure.
Plumas Lake lies roughly fifty miles north of Sacramento, positioned between the Sierra Nevada foothills to the east and the Coast Ranges to the west. The region's golf courses tend to emphasize playability and maintenance consistency over dramatic elevation change. For golfers traveling through Northern California, the course offers a representative example of valley golf design from its era, with tree-lined fairways and water hazards providing the primary strategic elements.
Reviews
Good public access course. Lotta bang for your buck. Relatively flat but still enough ground movement to keep it interesting. Back in the mid 1980’s this course was actually a Bof Digest Top 100 you can play. Definitely worth a play
