THE INTERNATIONAL GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Bolton, MA, USA
Designed by Geoffrey Cornish
The Pines Course at The International Golf Club, carved from the rolling woodlands of Bolton, Massachusetts, is a modern testament to challenge and scale. Marked by its expansive layout and dramatic elevation changes, the Pines sprawls across terrain that distinctly favors power off the tee; errant tee shots however, are quickly swallowed by the surrounding dense forest. Long par-4s and demanding approaches are common here and even the most seasoned golfer will be challenged on every hole.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and later refined by his son Rees Jones, The Pines reflects an ambitious architectural vision. The course has quietly hosted prominent regional amateur events. However, its legacy is more closely tied to providing a formidable test for its membership, and visiting players, in a serene, secluded setting.
Despite its challenging layout, The International is known for fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Post-round conversation often revolves around shared stories from the course, typically involving near misses, miraculous recoveries, and the enduring allure of conquering its demanding layout. The local favorite, the clubhouse's perfectly executed lobster roll, remains a highlight of the experience.
Reviews
Incredible experience throughout the day, from minute one until the very end! The redesign of the course is phenomenal, really strong layout, great green complexes, the strongest 4 par threes as a collective I’ve played anywhere. Range and practice area was immaculate, fairways were untouched as were the tee boxes. The only slight dampener on the day was the intense rain on our last 4 holes but it didn’t take the shine off the day at all. It was an incredible experience.
