Pine Needles is a brilliant, classic Donald Ross design with ample room off the tee but puts a premium on iron play and putting. Fantastic Par-4 variety and excellent quartet of Par-3s that are devilishly difficult, but it’s all about the greens here. Parkland golf at its best.
Difficult course, home to most ever LPGA US opens. Classic layout and design. Fair but difficult. Could play this course 100x and not get bored. Amazing practice area and staff.
The most challenging of the 3 courses under this ownership. Understand why they have the women’s US open. Must be very strategic with how you plot your way around to make sure you have the right approach angle into holes. Hidden secret: the short course on the back side of the range is fun and a great warm up or cool down after your round
Maybe the most over-hyped course I have ever played. Not knocking anyone who loves this place but history aside, I found Mid Pines and Southern Pines to be on another level golf wise compared to Pine Needles. It’s a good course, it’s fine, objectively I can’t put my finger on what differentiates the other two but to each their own. Just not in a hurry to come back and play here.

Toughest course in the Pine Needles family and a really great layout. Tough driving course with greens that fall off on most sides. Very good test, good par 3 variety closing stretch will test you. I think Pine Needles is the best golf package in the Pinehurst area. Can’t wait to go back
