PINE LAKES COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Myrtle Beach, SC, USA
Designed by Craig Schreiner, Robert White

Pine Lakes Country Club, opened in 1927, holds the distinction of being the oldest course in Myrtle Beach and is often called the "Granddaddy" of the Grand Strand's golf scene. Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America, designed the original layout on gently rolling terrain characteristic of South Carolina's coastal plain. The course was renovated by Craig Schreiner in the 1990s to modernize playing surfaces and infrastructure while respecting White's routing through corridors of mature pines, oaks, and magnolias.
The layout measures just over 6,600 yards from the championship tees and plays as a traditional parkland design with tree-lined fairways, modest elevation changes, and small to mid-sized greens that reward accuracy over distance. Water comes into play on several holes, and the bunkering reflects both the original strategic style and later refinements. The course occupies a historic site near the coast, with a setting that evokes the early days of Myrtle Beach golf development before the area became a major resort destination.
Pine Lakes is also notable for its clubhouse and dining traditions, which emphasize Southern hospitality and a connection to the region's golfing heritage. The club has maintained a reputation for preserving the character of classic American golf course design while serving both members and visitors. Its role in establishing Myrtle Beach as a golf destination gives it cultural significance beyond the design itself.
Reviews
2nd oldest track in MB Good routing Some long 4 Pars Home of Sports Illustrated Home of Myrtle Beach Hall of Fame
The renovation a few years ago made it wide open and it plays like an old-school test. Some absolutely brutal par 4’s and a ton of really fun mid and long iron shots. Easy pars and hard birdies.
