Himmerland Golf & Country Club

Himmerland Golf & Country Club sits in the rolling farmland of northern Jutland, near the town of Farsø, roughly midway between Aalborg and Viborg. The club's championship layout, known as the PGA Backtee course, was designed by Danish architect Jens Lykke Sørensen and opened in 2000. The property occupies former agricultural land that has been shaped into a parkland-style course with significant earth movement creating elevation changes and strategic bunkering across the relatively flat Jutland landscape. The course has hosted the Made in Denmark tournament on the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) annually since 2014, establishing it as Denmark's most prominent tournament venue in the modern era. The routing features water hazards on several holes, including ponds and streams that come into play on approach shots and around greens. The design emphasizes accuracy off the tee and precise iron play, with fairway bunkers positioned to challenge longer hitters and greenside complexes that require careful club selection. Himmerland operates as a resort facility with accommodations on-site, making it accessible to visiting golfers throughout the Scandinavian golf season. The club also maintains a shorter Old Course on the property. The tournament setup extends the PGA Backtee course to over 7,000 yards, though multiple tee options accommodate players of varying abilities during regular play.
