PERSIMMON COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Gresham, OR, USA
Designed by Gene "Bunny" Mason

Persimmon Country Club occupies rolling terrain in Gresham, a city in the eastern Portland metropolitan area where the Willamette Valley begins its transition toward the foothills of the Cascade Range. Gene "Bunny" Mason, a Pacific Northwest architect active primarily in the mid-to-late twentieth century, designed the course. Mason's work in Oregon and Washington typically emphasized playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating the natural contours and vegetation of the region.
The layout at Persimmon reflects the character of many suburban Portland-area courses from its era, with tree-lined fairways and elevation changes that require thoughtful club selection and course management. The property's name suggests the presence of mature hardwoods, which frame holes and define playing corridors. Water features and bunkering provide strategic interest without overwhelming the design's fundamental accessibility.
Persimmon serves as a private club for members in the Gresham and greater Portland communities. The course offers a setting where the climate of the Pacific Northwest—mild, wet winters and dry summers—influences both playing conditions and the maintenance calendar. Like many clubs in the region, it provides a year-round golf option, though winter conditions can vary considerably depending on rainfall and drainage.
Reviews
Fun private course on the edge of Portland. Hilly uneven lies don’t recommend walking. This would be a fun everyday course and I considered a Mon resident membership here at one time. Interesting holes in good shape. The 9th and 18th holes are mirror images of each other finishing with a short iron over a barranca.
